Former Prime Minister Anand Panyarachun will be a keynote speaker at the launch.

The book, a full-colour, 260-page hardback volume, has been specially compiled by a team of Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand (FCCT) editors, and builds upon the first edition of the book published in 1988.

The new edition has been produced in album format to the highest international standards by Editions Didier Millet.

This book documents HM the King's remarkable life through foreign newspaper, magazine and wire service reports as compiled by FCCT. The original version of "The King of Thailand in World Focus" was released in 1987 to coincide with King Bhumibol's 60th birthday.

It has long been out of print, but remains one of the most insightful and readable works on Thailand's widely revered monarch.

A dinner at which the book will be launched will be held at The Oriental on August 23.
