New SET chairman not finalised yet

Stock Exchange of Thailand President Patareeya Benjapolchai said it remains a rumour that Pakorn Malakul na Ayudhya would become the new SET chairman.

Saying that Pakorn is qualified for the position, she said the exchange still waits for the official nomination from the Securities and Exchange Commission.

There have been rumours that Pakorn, former secretary-general of the SEC, would be nominated for the exchange chairmanship. If appointed, Pakorn will replace Vijit Supinit.

"This remains a rumour. We're now waiting for the SEC nomination and then, the SET board will have to discuss and opt for the most qualified," Vijit said.
