July inflation up 1.7%
Thailand's inflation in July expanded 1.7 per cent year on year and remained unchanged month on month, due mainly to the unchanged costs of food and drinks.
Core inflation, excluding volatile commodities such as energy and food, in July rose 0.8 per cent year on year and 0.1 per cent month on month, due to the strong baht which kept energy imports at a lower price.
Commerce Permanent Secretary Karun Kittistaporn said on Wednesday that inflation in the first seven months rose 2.1 per cent year on year.
