"We are focusing more on quality rather than quantity. A problem in the world over including Thailand is poor-quality innovations. In China, over 1,200 patents were registered and 55 million patents all over the world. However, only few is commercialised," said Viboonlak Ruamrak, deputy director-general of the department.
In the previous years, the growth target was set 14-17 per cent.
The department revealed that during the 5th IP Fair, which ended yesterday, some patent owners succeeded in reaching commercial deals worth Bt120 million and some projects worth about Bt500 million are under negotiation.
