Students bag 22 medals in math

Thai secondary school stuŽdents won 22 medals and the special "Popular Award" at the World Youth Mathematics Intercity Competition (WYMIC) held in China from July 2027.



Basic Education Commission (BEC) secretarygeneral Khunying Kasama Varawarn said that the Office of the BEC sent 16 contestants to the competition and all of them had a chance to win medals.

Weerapat Pattanasri from Suankularb Wittayalai School B team won a silver medal, while ten bronze medal winŽners were: Rattapon Tawatpongton and Noppon Siranat from the same school, Chet Khemakhongkhanon and Laponchai Jirachupan from Srinakharinwirot University's Patumwan Demonstration School, Nattapong Dangroongroj and Nanicha Siriwong from Bodindecha (Sing Singhaseni) School, Keerati Seubkijwanchai from Yothin Burana School, Pantira Chinotaikul from Samsenwittayalai School, Pongsaton Laksanaboonsong from St Gabriel's School, Pakawut Jiradilok from Assumption School. Four teams also won bronze medals.

Five other students won consolation prizes.

In addition, Thailand received the Popular Award, which is based on human relaŽtionships, cooperation and harmony between the stuŽdents, the controllers and the teams leaders.

The students will arrive back in Thailand today.

Taking part in the competiŽtion were 65 teams from 13 thirteen countries including the USA, Singapore, China, the Philippines, India, Taiwan, South Africa, Indonesia and Iran.
