The remains of the van after an accident yesterday morning at a construction site near Bangkok’s Tap Chang tollway gate.
The van was speeding when it approached the site and the driver did not see the truck in its path.
A backhoe tractor from the construction site and a notice by the side of the road were also damaged in the accident.
The truck driver, Panya Sinchai, was accused of driving carelessly and causing an accident resulting in death and injury.
Three of the van's passengers and the driver were killed, and one passenger was injured.
Police said the van belonged to a recruitment company that was transporting the passengers to the airport. They were bound for Taiwan to work in a factory.
A spokesman from the FM 91 Traffic radio station said he had been informed by a number of people that, since the beginning of the month, up to seven accidents had occurred at the construction site, which begins at Fashion Island shopping centre and ends at the tollgate.
Most of the incidents have taken place at night because there are too few warning lights and protective gates surrounding the construction site.
One driver said the road adjacent to the site was very dangerous for motorists, especially those who were not familiar with the route
