The project will develop guidelines for using pollution-preventing technology at garages used by state agencies.
PCD deputy director-general Wichian Jungrungreong said that business operators had used natural resources wastefully and caused pollution, thus it was necessary to utilise academic information and appropriate guidance in pollution-preventing technology and environmental management, leading to the efficient use of resources.
The PCD financially supported the "pollution-preventing technology application at garages" project organised by the Thailand Environment Institute and the FTI, said Wichian. He hoped business operators and related agencies could learn effective ways to prevent and minimise pollution from their operations.
Participating garages could use appropriate pollution-preventing technology in their facilities, maximise the use of resources through saving energy and recycling and thus reduce costs, including on waste management, according to FTI president Santi Wilassakdanont.
They could also create a network of environmentally friendly garages to exchange information, he said. This would help increase competitiveness and create a role-model image.
