RATCH profit up 47% in Q2

Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Plc posted the unaudited net profit of Bt2.14 billion in the second quarter, a 46.71 per cent increase from the same period last year.

In the second quarter of 2006, its net profit was Bt1.458 billion.

In the filing to the Stock Exchange of Thailand RATCH attributed the higher net profit mainly to the insurance claims of Bt496 million for the fire at its plant in 2005 and higher interest income and lower interest expenses. In the quarter, RATCH witnessed lower income contributions from its joint ventures, from Bt219.7 million last year to Bt177 million.

RATCH's six-month operating profit stood at Bt4 billion, up 23.47 per cent year on year from Bt3.39 billion.
