Egat to spend Bt23 billion on power transmission system

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) will spend over Bt23 billion within the next five years on the upgrade and expansion of the power transmission system.

Egat's deputy governor for transmission system business Chamnong Wongsawang said that the investment is in line with the project to purchase the electricity from the major independent power producers (IPPs) and to cater its plan to expand its power production capacity.

He added that the move would enable to the state agency to cater the rising electricity demand.

He also expressed the concern on the stealth of the parts of the high voltage poles, which are the state agency's assets. - The Nation
