"4 Angies" has been nominated as the only Thai representative at the Digicon 6+3 contest in Japan, competing against animated series from seven other Asian countries plus Hong Kong.

Hosted by the Tokyo Broadcasting System, the contest is aimed at promoting Asian animated features. The winners will be named on September 29, said Home Run Entertainment, the Thai series' producer.

"This is the first year that a Thai animated series has been nominated for an international contest, through support from Thailand's Software Industry Promotion Agency," the production house said in a statement.

The animated series aired from late last year to this past February on Channel 3. The characters were based on four real-life television hosts on the same channel.

In Japan, it will compete with animated series from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, India and Japan.

Due to the popularity of the first season, Home Run Entertainment has commissioned production of a second season, also to be shown on Channel 3.
