Defending champion Fernando Alonso in the second McLaren was third fastest, followed by the BMW-Sauber of Nick Heidfeld and his Polish team-mate Robert Kubica.
Felipe Massa in the second Ferrari was sixth fastest.
McLaren lead Ferrari in the constructors' standings by 128 to 104 points after nine of 17 races.
In the drivers' championship, Hamilton and Fernando Alonso reign supreme with 70 and 58 points, respectively. Raikkonen has 52, one point ahead of Massa.
