To celebrate Pottermania, The Emporium will turn its Phrom Phong BTS station into the magical Platform 9¾ of King's Cross Station, just like in the books. The Fashion Hall becomes Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Diagon Alley, where a variety of games and fun activities will be held. Co-hosted with Asia Books, the event will also feature a charity storytelling record for the school of the blind.
The fair runs until July 23 from 10am to 10pm.
Down the road at CentralWorld, the three-storey B2S branch there will host "The Magic of Harry Potter". The first fans in line to enter will receive a souvenir "Gold Token Book". Activities include "Harry Potter Story Tellers for the Blind" and "The Magic Under Horizon" show. Nanmee Books at Siam Paragon cracks open at 5am, and expects to play host to about 400 dyed-in-the wool Hogwarts fanatics. Potter memorabilia, gifts and fun games will be on offer.
Bookazine in Siam Square is out to find the "true Harry Fan" with a lucky draw from 6am to 4pm. The new book's first 50 purchasers will receive a model of the Golden Snitch and two sets of Time Turner necklaces will be given away every hour on the hour.
Comic adaptation
Director Teravat Anuvatudom adapted the hit stage comedy "Pritsana" by Chulalongkorn University's architecture students for his new stage play, "Chai Klang". It stars comedian Udom "Nose" Taepanich, Nirut Sirichanya, Pornchita "Benz" Na Songkhla, Sririta Jenzen and Nithi "Job" Samutkochon.
The play depicts struggling novelist Somchai trying to create a different book to educate his readers. But his editor pushes him to write a romance novel, a genre he despises. While writing his new work, Somchai feels that he is betraying himself.
The scenes shift back and forth between Somchai's real life and the world of his fiction.
The show runs until July 29 at Muang Thai Rachadalai Theatre with performances at 7.30pm daily and matinees at 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Tickets range from Bt500 to Bt2,000, and are available at Thaiticketmajor.
