Police Reform Bill is flawed

Former top police officers today pointed to several flaws in the Police Reform Bill.

Police Reform Bill is flawed

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont meets with former national police chiefs.

Former national police chief General Pracha Promnok said the bill would shake the line of commands within police force, making it impossible for the force to serve the public efficiently.

Police General Sawas Amornwiwat, who previously headed the Royal Thai Police, also complained that an idea to appoint outsiders to many investigation panels in the police force would allow the outsiders to interfere with police works.

They met with Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont this afternoon.

The premier invited police officers, retired police officers and relevant officials to express their comments.
