Commerce Minister Krirk-krai Jirapaet yesterday said the mission visited the city of Weifang to link trade relations between the countries.
The Thai Tapioca Products Association inked an agreement with Weifang Ensing Industry. The Chinese company is the world's biggest citric-acid manufacturer, and its production is used for 200,000 tonnes of alcohol a year.
The tapioca imports will be used not only for alcohol production, but also to reduce maize and citric-acid imports.
In addition, the Shandong Jingzki Wine Industry Group signed another agreement with the Thai Tapioca Trade Association to supply 100,000 tonnes of tapioca products. The group will use tapioca products as a raw material in producing local white spirits.
Krirk-krai said other potential Thai products for export included shrimp, fruits and precious stones. Thai exporters will help China set up a gemmology school for quality selection, product design and export marketing.
