Graft panel orders more freeze on Thaksin's son's bank accounts

The Assets Examination Committee on Friday froze three more bank accounts worth Bt500 million belonging to former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra's son.

AEC chairman Nam Yimyaem said the three accounts belong to Panthongtae Shinawatra and the money was from the Shin Corp share sale in January last year.

The latest freeze order was the seventh in connection to the case of alleged irregularities in the Shin Corp deal.

The first freeze by the special anti-graft panel was made on June 11.

Nam said the freeze order was not brought to the AEC meeting but was already circulated to the committee members for acknowledgement.

He said that the committee did not fear the threat by Thaksin's lawyer that the ex-PM would file a civil lawsuit against them next week demanding for tens of billion baht in damages. They don't have that much money anyway, Nam said.
