Debate planned for draft constitution
The Constitution Drafting Assembly is preparing to hold a debate on the charter draft before the August 19 referendum, a member of the committee on people's participation and referendum said on Wednesday.
Sirichai Mai-ngam said CDA chairman Noranit Setabutr, Constitution Drafting Committee chairman Prasong Soonsiri, Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont and former prime minister Anand Panyarachun will join the debate.
The date for the debate has not been set but there will also be another forum at the Parliament on July 24 when 200 people representing six different groups including NGOs, labour and the disabled will deliberate the draft. Moreover, similar activities will be held in the provinces around the country, he said.
