Junta chief says he won't set up new party

General Sonthi Boonyaratglin, the Council for National Security chairman, said on Wednesday that he would not establish a new political party even if he would enter politics.

He also did not acknowledge a plan to establish the Rak Chat (Patriotic) Party. Sonthi said nobody in the CNS was involved in the plan.

The Rak Chat Party has been regarded as a party Sonthi could join if he decided to enter politics.
