Thais win Asian Championships

Jarunee and Usa makes an historic win after teaming up for the first time early this year.

[BEACH VOLLEYBALL] Thailand B's Jarunee Sannok and Usa Tenpaksee defied against all odds to capture the Asian Circuit Beach Volleyball Championships in Hyderabad, India on Sunday.

The Thai pair, who formed the team for the first time early this year, overpowered Thailand A's Kamolthip Kulna and Yupa Phukrongploy, who made a clean sweep of victories at the Asian Tour in Phatthalung and the Asian Championships in Songkla last April, in a hard-fought three-set thriller. China finished a disappointing third place.

In the men's competition, Thailand's Montree Cha-aimnoi and Apichart Bualuang finished a poor sixth, while veteran Thaweep Thongkhamnerd and Borworn Yangthin came in ninth place. Indonesia 1 clinched the title, while China and Indonesia 2 finished second and third places respectively.

The Thai squad arrived in Bangkok on Tuesday afternoon.
