World leaders invited to address Thais on democracy
Bill Clinton, Jacques Chirac and Tony Blair are among prominent foreigners invited to talk to voters about democracy during the campaign to encourage people to vote - in the referendum on the new constitution and the election.
Prime Minister's Office Minister Thirapat Serirangsan said foreign leaders and opinion makers would be invited to deliver their views on democracy between August 3 and October 31.
Invitations had been sent to former United States president Clinton and would soon be extended to former French president Chirac and former British prime minister Blair.
The government would not censor content and would leave topics up to invitees.
"In general, speeches must touch on the development of democracy," Thirapat said.
