Jungle Biking Borneo & the Mt. Kinabalu Climbathon

Jungle Biking Borneo will prepare bikers for the annual Mt Kinabalu International Climbathon, commonly described as the world's toughest mountain race

Mountain biking through the jungles of Borneo is perfect preparation for the annual Mt Kinabalu International Climbathon, commonly described as the world's toughest mountain race, and Symbiosis Expedition Planning is offering a 10-day bike ride on August 15-24 before this year's event on August 25-26.

Mt Kinabalu is South East Asia's tallest - and the world's fastest growing -

mountain, towering 4,095 m above the mystical jungles of Borneo.  Each year adventurous sporting men and women from all over the world compete to run to the summit and down again, an arduous 21km, for a total prize bag worth over USD 33,000.

Whether you are planning to participate in the Climbathon or not, Symbiosis' 10 day mountain bike expedition offers a great adventure exploring the mountains, jungles and west coast beaches of Sabah, one of the two Malaysian states in Borneo.

Following all weather roads and dirt tracks and trails, the route starts gently along the coast, visiting some of Sabah's fine beaches, before climbing up into the jungle-clad Crocker Mountain Range.

The ride finishes in Gunung Kinabalu National Park, one of the most important biodiversity reserves for tropical flora and fauna in Asia, at the foot of the Mountain the day before the race takes place.

The cost for joining the bike ride is USD 2,125 (GBP 1,110, EUR 1,435) per person, excluding international flights to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah,

the Climbathon registration and bike hire.  Most meals are included during the 10 day bike ride.
