Six injured in city bus accident

Six people were injured yesterday when a city bus hit a concrete barricade and turned over near a tollway entrance on Vibhavadi-Rangsit Highway.

Those injured included bus driver Suwas Lordnanepha-nao, who has been charged with causing injuries through recklessness, and fare collector Samrueng Rungrueg. Police are checking whether the driver had alcohol in his blood.

Four of the passengers are still hospitalised awaiting X-ray results to determine whether their injuries are serious - a condition that may subject Suwas to heavier criminal penalties.

According to witnesses, bus No 52, operated by Saha Yanyont Co under concession from the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority, changed lanes abruptly to pick up passengers at a bus stop near the tollway entrance, but it hit the barricade and turned over.
