TFEX posts new contract record

A number of 9,894 futures contracts with combined value of Bt5.74 billion were struck on July 3, increasing the outstanding number of contracts on the day to 10,787 - a new record since Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX)'s inception.



Opened in April 2006, TFEX has so far witnessed 2,882 daily contracts on average in the first half of this year, compared to 1,204 contracts in the same period last year.

 Foreign institutional investors now accounted for 23.6 per cent of total transaction at the end of June, compard to 19.2 per cent last year. Local institutional investors' ratio was unchanged at 27 per cent. The rest are investors in general.

 KGI Securities (Thailand) is the broker with highest trading turnover, with the market share of 16.95 per cent.

 According to Kesara Manchusri, managing director of the futures exchange, on October 29, TFEX will launch "SET50 Options" which is expected to be warmly welcomed. Until then, the exchange will launch a campaign to educate investors on the new product.
