Photographers aim for candid culture in a royal fund-raiser for the 'Run for the One We Love' campaign

To celebrate the 84th birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, many public and private organisations have joined up to organise "Run for the One We Love 2007".

The press conference to announce the project was held recently at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, and opened by Dr Suwit Yodmanee, Minister of Tourism and Sports and chairman of the project's executive committee.

He was joined by Pol Sub Lt Kriangsak Lohachala, who is acting as chairman of the operating committee.

Two major activities are planned: a photo exhibition featuring 84 Thailand's celebrities and well-known personalities playing their favourite sports captured by 19 leading and five honourable photographers; and a charity marathon to win the Royal Trophy granted by the Princess to promote public awareness on the need for regular exercise to maintain good health. Parts of the proceeds will go to support the Princess' charitable activities.

Also attending the event were the lensmen who took part in the exhibition, among them Chamni Tipmanee, Nat Prakorbsantisuk, Nat Sumanatemeya, Lakana Wirunanont, Woranan Chatchawaltipakorn, Sukhon Srimaratanakul, and Anuchai Sricharoonphuthong.

On display at the press conference were images of Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Sonthi Boonyaratkalin playing football captured by Sangthong Ket-Uthong, Suwat Liptapanlop in a swimming pool taken by Lt Gen Poonpirom Liptapanlop, Kunthika Krairiksh captured by actor Thanakorn Poshyananda and actress/businesswoman Sophitnapa Chumpanee playing tennis by Nat Prakorbsantisuk.

The photo exhibition of "Run for the One We Love 2007" will be held on September 8 at The Event Gallery on the eighth floor of Zen Department Store.

The charity marathon will kick off in Bangkok on September 9 at Central World Square of Central World with similar activities organised in Chiang Mai, Phuket and Nakhon Ratchasima to allow people in different regions of Thailand to join in the celebration of this auspicious occasion.
