Thailand's Duang-Anong Aroonkesorn and Kunchala Voravichitchaikul caused a major upset in the last 16 of the women's doubles as they stunned Taiwanese top seeds Cheng Wen Hsing and Chen Yu Chin in just 20 minutes in the Asian Badminton Championships in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, yesterday.



The impressive 21-18 21-17 victory put the Thais in a quarter-finals of the US$125,000 tournament, where they will go up against China's Ma Jin and Wang Xiaoli, who yesterday crushed India's BR Meenakshi and Balan Aparna 21-10 21-15.

Boonsak Ponsana crashed out in the last 16 to Malaysian Yeo KayBin 24-22 13-21 23-21.

Team-mates Phattapol Ngernsrisuk and Nuttaphon Narkthong  went down 21-17 21-18 to Malaysia's Ong Soon Hock and Tan Bin Shen in the men's doubles second round.
