Who's doing what: Just Jack released his second album, "Overtones", earlier this year and it shot to No 6 in the UK charts. One of the key ingredients to this sudden success was the poppy single "Starz in Their Eyes", which he performed at his TV debut on BBC2's "Later with Jools Holland", then on the Channel 4 show "The Friday Night Project". His second single, "Writer's Block" is a far better representation of Just Jack's sound.
Mr Badboy says: "Overtones" is a striking album, full of funky basslines and jazzy brass sections, especially on "Glory Days", which would be ideal for a TV commercial. The funky disco beats of "Starz In Their Eyes" and the electro '80s pop of "I Talk Too Much" would encourage even the most hardened couch potato to get up and boogie. "Writer's Block" opens with an intro that's reminiscent of a Chinese movie before segueing intro a laid-back hip-hop beat and funky basslines, while the intro to "Lost" offers shades of Linkin' Park.
