Thai Q1 GDP growth up

Thailand's economic growth rose by 1.2 percent in the first quarter due mainly to strong exports, which offset weak domestic consumption and investment growth, National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) announced on Monday.

Gross domestic product (GDP) grew a seasonally adjusted 1.2% in the first quarter from the previous quarter, up from the revised growth of 0.6% in the fourth quarter of 2006.

Compared with a year earlier, GDP grew 4.3% in the first quarter, unchanged from the revised figure for the fourth quarter, according to the NESDB.- The Nation
