Prawit lifts the hosts
[BASKETBALL] Srinaka-rinwirot slaughtered Kasetsart 94-52 to grab their first victory in the preliminary rounds of the Nation-Siam University League Basketball Tournament at Srinakarinwirot University's Gymnasium yesterday.
Earlier, Srinakarinwirot went down to Dhurakij Pundit 89-86 in their first match. The hosts, last year's runners-up, proved too strong for the newcomers, Kasetsart, by putting on a sparkling display to take an 18-point lead in the first quarter. The visitors answered with fast attacks, but the hosts hit back quickly with their defence. A few turnovers and three-pointers from national player Ratchadech Kruatiwa helped them to forge 80-36 ahead at the end of the third session. The hosts' lack of cohesion gave Kasetsart a chance to score a series of lay-ups before Srinakarinwirot threw in Prawit Wichutarat, who brought a spring in the hosts' step. Prawit ended up as the top performer after netting 15 points in two quarters of the match.
