DSI deadline looms over Thaksin The spotlight will be on whether former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his wife Pojaman meet a June 29 deadline to appear before officials of the Department of Special Investigation. The department summoned the couple to hear charges they concealed shares in SC Asset, a property company. The department gave Thaksin and his wife until Friday to appear. It also called Bussaba Damapong, wife of Pojaman's brother, Bhanapot. Thaksin's legal adviser, Noppadon Pattama, said he would not return to Thailand in June.
Charter drafters shift into top gear The Constitution Drafting Assembly is working overtime to get through the second reading of the draft constitution, which it hopes to complete by the end of the month. The new charter must go through a third reading and be passed by July 9. The assembly said it could beat that by three days.
