Assets frozen

An Assets Examination Committee (AEC) panel headed by Jaruvan Maintaka yesterday ordered the freezing of additional assets in the SC Office Plaza case linked to ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

In the initial order to freeze assets in the case, the panel uncovered suspicious accounts worth Bt13 million, said Jaruvan, who is also the Auditor-General.

The panel later found an additional Bt986 million deposited in an account at Thanachart Bank, she said, noting that assets frozen in the case now total Bt1 billion. A source close to the AEC said graft busters were trying to trace Bt800 million still unaccounted for in the Bt73.3 billion sale of Shin Corp shares, which the AEC ordered frozen on June 11.
