Late news :Chevron to pay Bt20 bn to govt

Chevron (Thailand) must pay Bt20 billion to the government for a 10-year extension to its natural-gas concession.

PTT Exploration and Exploration (PTTEP), Total and BG will need to pay Bt10 billion for their extensions, Mineral Fuels Department director-general Krairit Nilkuha said yesterday.

The Petroleum Committee could approve PTTEP's extension next month, but the decision in Chevron's case could be delayed.

Samphan fund

Samphan Insurance, the leading non-life firm, will inject about Bt1 billion into its insurance fund this month, to raise its status from "weak registered capital" under the Insurance Act.

Insurance Department director-general Chantra Purnariksha yesterday said her department would closely monitor the company's progress in correcting its capital in time.

Samphan has reported that four firms will help raise its financial status.

Non-life insurers must keep an insurance fund at 10 per cent of their total premiums.
