PM Surayud to speak at Thai-Japanese luncheon

The Thai-Japanese Association has arranged an exclusive luncheon talk today at which Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont will meet with more than 500 people from the Japanese business community in Thailand.

The meeting has been organised to mark the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan.

The theme of the special luncheon talk at which Surayud will be the keynote speaker is "The Prime Minister Meets Japanese Businessmen: For the Future and Development of Thailand".

It will also bring together for the first time the premier and a large number of Japanese businessmen.

The Japan-Thailand Economic Partnership Agreement, likely to be implemented in October, will also enhance trade and investment on both sides.

Association president Staporn Kavitanon yesterday said the exclusive luncheon talk would help foster business partnerships between the Thailand and Japan.

"This is a much-anticipated event among Japanese business investors, to hear for themselves an official confirmation from the Thai government regarding the current favourable investment climate and to be informed that the historic trade accord will further broaden and deepen ties between the two countries," he said.

The special luncheon talk will be held today from noon to 2.30pm in the Napalai Ballroom of the Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok.
