Inside job suspected

The robbery of an armoured truck on Tuesday could have been assisted by insiders working for the security company that provided the transport service, Bangkok police chief Pol Lt-General Adisorn Nonsee said yesterday.

Police are questioning all employees of Siam Administrative Management, or Samco, which transported the cash on the day, including the drivers of the truck - Rachan Jarasmee and Phongsak Khamwong, who were each questioned for five hours.

Adisorn said the crime was carried out "too conveniently and in broad daylight" by the two robbers, who didn't even bother to cover their faces with masks or helmets. The licence plate number on their escape vehicle, Por Ngor 6815 BKK, was found to belong to a pickup truck registered in Samut Sakhon.

Two gunmen robbed the Samco guards of Bt3.5 million in cash they were carrying to a security van from Krungsri Ayudhya Bank on Rama 9 in Bangkok's Suan Luang district.
