Young Thai designers
The Export Promotion Department will arrange a stage to allow young fashion designers to present their creations to local garment-makers and foreign buyers.
The Young Designer Room will be a feature of the Bangkok International Fashion Fair & Bangkok International Leather Fair at Bitec from August 22-26. ML Kathathong Thongyai, director of the department's Product Development Centre, said yesterday that the initiative aimed to encourage young designers to explore the international market. An annual contest to find new designers is being launched in conjunction with the fair. The contest will be upgraded consistently to meet the standards of events such as the Fashion Connection in Singapore and the Asian Fashion Grand Prix Contest in Japan.
