Asian photographers win the 2nd Asia Press Photo Contest

Beijing - Eight photographers from across the region were cited for their outstanding work in the 2nd Asia Press Photo Contest co-organised by Asia News Network and China Daily.

They are G M B Akash from Bangladesh in the daily life catergory, Zhang Tao from China in the arts and entertainment, Shahadat Parvez from Bangladesh for spot news catergory, Manisn Swarvp from India for general news, Abir Abdullah from Bangladesh for portrait, Lang Shuchen from China for nature  and environment, Liu Yingyi from China in the sports catergory and Wang Jie from China for Economic, Scientific and Technical News.

More than 700 photographers sent more than 4,000 entries to this year's contest. Half of the winning entries submitted photo news series.

The entries centered on the theme 'Changing Asia' depicting the region as it undergoes development economically, politically and socially.

The prize for the gold award in each category are US$1,000 and a certificate.
