Advanced Info Service is now offering a smorgasbord of licensed software and mobile services at its AIS Future World centre.
"This will create our mobile community," executive vice president Somchai Lertsuttiwong said yesterday. The leading cellular operator with more than 20 million subscribers has changed the showroom's concept from mainly displaying futuristic wireless technologies to providing a wide array of mobile software and other services. Teens can participate in several fun events coming up at the venue, such as using the IT and music tools there - with advice from experts - to develop their own mobile content for sharing with friends. AIS has set aside Bt20 million to hold activities at the venue throughout the year. Among the exhibitors is the Software Mall booth of local mobile software distributor Playwork. Its programs, which are available for free download, free trial or commercial use, range from security to entertainment. AIS subscribers can also download Playwork's software wirelessly from the AIS portal. Playwork president Chuchai Chansangavej said his company planned to set up more booths in all major shopping malls soon. Its software library will reach 100 titles next month and 1,000 by the end of the year, up from the present 50. Paddy Tan, CEO of Singapore-based BAK2U, which produces anti-theft software for mobile devices, said his company was scheduled to promote its line at the software mall and AIS portal in two weeks. AIS Future World has also launched a "mobile guru" corner, where experts and AIS employees can be consulted about mobile phones. Sirivish Toomgum The Nation
