Thai police links foreigner to Tesco's blackmail case

Thai police will soon issue an arrest warrant for a foreigner in his 40s who was suspected of sending a blackmail message to Tesco supermarket store in the UKto demand money or else he would poisoned food in the store.
Crime Suppression Bureau's deputy police chief Lt Col Chakrit Iamjangpan said Thursday that his bureau is cooperating with UK's Scotland Yard police on the information of the suspect who sent e-mail to Tesco in UK, demanding two millions pounds (Bt136 million). He threatened to poison food sold at Tesco supermarkets in the UK unless his demand was met, Chakrit said. UK police tracked down the e-mail and found that it was sent from an Internet café in Soi Nana on Sukhumvit Road. Chakrit said that video footage from a security camera at the cafe led the police believed that a foreigner, aged between 40-50 years old, was the suspect. Police also believed that Thais could possibly be involved in the case, he said. He added that the UK's side is not happy that details of the case were released to the media. They said the leak has added extra burden for them in their handling of the case. The Nation
