AOT set to pay Bt9m over noise

Airports of Thailand (AOT) is preparing to pay Bt9 million to 18 house owners affected by noise pollution from Suvar-nabhumi Airport.

Senior executive vice president Suratas Suthamanus said the 18 owners will receive compensation to repair and insulate ceilings, roofs, windows, and doors.

The highest payment was about Bt1.2 million and the lowest, Bt400,000.

Suratas said after improvements, noise levels in those properties should be reduced to around 20 decibels.

He said the AOT has submitted the payment to Office of the Attorney-General and expects an answer next month.
