Pinij 'shows spirit'

Pinij Charusombat has resigned from the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) to "show the right spirit" as one of the 111 former and current Thai Rak Thai party executives banned from politics for five years.

Pinij, who quit the party after the September 19 coup, said although there was no legal reason for him to be removed from the NLA, he wanted to "set a standard in politics".

"My resignation is not from lacking qualifications to be in the NLA, but to prevent any confusion," he said.
