Reminder on work permits

The Phuket Provincial Employment Office has asked employers of Burmese, Lao and Cambodian workers to renew their employees' work permits before June 30

At the monthly meeting of provincial government department chiefs, Kitti Nuisri of the Phuket Labour Office said that 6,685 work permits for immigrant workers that expire on June 30 had been renewed.

He said 13,841 more work permits were due to be renewed before month's end.

"An employer caught with immigrants working without a valid work permit or doing work not listed in the work permit faces up to three years' imprisonment or a Bt60,000 fine, or both. Workers caught doing likewise face up to three years' imprisonment or Bt5,000 fine or both," he said.
