Rush and Barnes to teach kids

A feast of football will be served up during the weekend's Tesco Lotus Bangkok Masters Football tournament, with two Liverpool legends Ian Rush and John Barnes featuring in the event.
The two veteran stars will, undoubtedly, be the centre of attention in what appears to be an attractive field consisting of many well-known players in the same league as the two legendary footballers. The two Brits lead an impressive list in the Happy Elephant Samui All Stars team which includes Viv Anderson [ex-Nottingham Forest, Arsenal and Manchester United], Clive Walker [ex-Chelsea], Gus Caesar [ex-Arsenal], Darrell Duffy [ex-Aston Villa] and a trio of ESPN Star Sports' hosts - Paul Masefield, Andrew Leci and Shebby Singh. There are a total of 24 teams contesting the international 7-a-side football tournament which will take place at Dhephatsadin stadium [near MBK Centre] during the weekend. During their stay in Thailand, the two legends of the Merseyside club will also engage in a series of football clinics for underprivileged school children across the country. Encouraged by the success of a football clinic last year, Tesco Lotus wanted to provide an opportunity to children in the upcountry areas and made it more interesting by bringing in Barnes. The clinic will begin at Tesco Lotus Chiang Mai tomorrow, followed by Bangkok at Lad Phrao branch on Saturday before concluding at Tesco Lotus Phuket on June 5. On Sunday, Rush, Barnes and Anderson will attend a dinner hosted by Raimon Land where fans will have a chance to get close to them and get some insight about them. The event will be held at the Conrad Hotel. Tickets are priced at Bt2,000 and can be purchased at the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand [Tel 02651 5350-3].
