Nok Air takes off for India

Nok Air will today start its first international route between Bangkok and Bangalore, India, calling it the world's first "Shopper's Airline" flight.
The daily flights will use a 150-seat Boeing 737-400. "Together with the first international flight, we are launching the 'Shopper's Airline', a world first, bringing those who enjoy shopping for quality to Bangkok for discounts available only to Nok Air passengers," said chief executive officer Patee Sarasin. "Nok Air is not only making flying simpler and easier, but also adding value and making it fun for everyone." Thai Airways International subsidiary Nok Air aims to promote shopping experiences, not only to the young and affluent, but also to the general Indian flying public who appreciate the brands available in Bangkok. Together with its partner The Mall Group - operator of The Emporium, Siam Paragon and The Mall department stores - Nok Air offers passengers from Bangalore discounts of 50 per cent on popular brands, as well as free makeup lessons and other special deals. Nok Plus passengers will also enjoy 15-per-cent in-store discounts, while Nok economy passengers will enjoy 10 per cent. Sports enthusiasts will receive an additional 5-per-cent discount on top of any promotion prices in the Sport Zone.
