Auto output for April declines

Automobile manufacturers rolled 82,980 vehicles off production lines in April, down 2.57 per cent on the same month last year, according to the Federation of Thai Industries. Of those, 41,696 were for export.

During the first four months of the year, total manufactured vehicles numbered 376,615 - down 3.33 per cent on the same period last year. Of that number, 194,992 are for export - a 10.3-per-cent jump from the same period last year. The number of vehicles built for the local market during the period fell 14.65 per cent.

April saw just 17,584 passenger cars assembled, a year-on-year fall of 14.06 per cent. In the first four months, 87,253 passenger cars were made, an 8.24-per-cent fall.

New Plus venture

Plus Property has established Touch Property that will offer advisory, management, broker, and agency and development services.Plus managing director Maytha Chanchamcharat said the new company would concentrate on the business-to-business market, especially inspection of up to 13,000 older properties.

"Touch Property will add to our services and cover all of our customers; part of our plan to be an integrated property developer offering services from management to development," he said. - The Nation

Nestle woos kids

Nestle (Thai) and the Education Ministry are encouraging children to be creative, share and to understand living in a "sufficiency" environment.

Nestle's executive director for ice cream and chilled-dairy products Philippe Eberle said the collaboration included an illustrated-essay contest for primary students. The topic is "My Way of Living Sufficiently" and the winner will receive a trophy from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Bt300,000 in scholarships are also up for grabs, too.
