Bt2 bn asked for referendum

The Cabinet is expected on Tuesday to approve Bt2 billion for the September referendum on the new constitution.

The Election Commission (EC) funding will include Bt499 million for a campaign to encourage voter turnout.

The EC will hold a seminar tomorrow with representatives of 181 organisations that will help the agency prepare the referendum.

On Tuesday, the People's Network for Elections will meet with the EC to discuss how independent poll monitors can ensure a fair vote.
