Bahrain trade deal

Despite the free-trade agreement between Thailand and Bahrain being suspended, a visit by 50 Thai diplomats to the country to explore investment opportunities has been hailed as a major success.

According to Gulf Daily News, Thailand's deputy minister of foreign affairs, Poksak Nilubol, led the group of officials from across South Asia, the Middle East and Africa to discuss investment opportunities.

They included representatives from the public and private sectors and had come to Bahrain to exchange views on Thai economic strategies and how to implement them.

The four-day meeting is one of the most important on the calendar of Thailand's economic officers serving abroad and was held in Bahrain for the first time.
