See the verdicts on TV or on the Net: court

The Constitution Tribunal will allow a live broadcast of its rulings on the electoral-fraud cases involving the Thai Rak Thai and Democrat parties next Wednesday, in a bid to discourage crowds from flocking to the court building.
"Nine TV stations and Radio Thailand will provide live coverage of the decisions in the two fraud cases," Tribunal secretary-general Paiboon Warahapaitoon said yesterday. He said the full verdict would be posted on the Tribunal's website, www.concourt.or.th, within 20 minutes of the verdicts. Members of the prosecution and defence will be allocated seats in the courtroom strictly based on the list of names previously submitted and approved, he said. "Members of the public, party members and their constituents will not be allowed to congregate inside the court premises and should monitor the session via the live broadcast," he said. In regard to judicial deliberation on the cases, he said the Tribunal's nine judges were expected to finish writing their individual opinions by Monday, so they could then vote on the outcomes of the two cases. The final rulings would be based on the majority opinion. After the vote, judges will write the verdicts for release the following day. Meanwhile, about 1,000 policemen will be deployed at the court to deter any attempts to incite crowds to turn unruly.
