Prosecutors submit list of witnesses on Pojaman-Bhanapot case

Public prosecutors submitted on Friday a list of 39 witnesses to testify in the Pojaman-Bhanapot case for the alleged Bt546 million tax evasion.
Ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra's wife Pojaman, her brother Bhanapot Damapong and her private secretary Kanchanapa Honghern are fighting criminal charges stemming from the alleged tax scam. The Criminal Court has scheduled to start hearing prosecution witnesses on June 18. The defence will begin calling its 25 witnesses on July 23. The trial is expected to be completed in August. Meanwhile, the Assets Examination Committee is slated next Monday to review its subcommittee report on the graft probe relating to the ousted gov¬ernment's alleged intervention to extend two ExportImport Bank's loans to Burma. Should the committee endorse the report, the proceedings would move to the indictment hearing naming culprits and making charges for the combined lending of Bt7 billion allegedly to favour the telecom business founded by Thaksin.
