'Exorcist' raped kids
A 60-year-old Samut Prakan man duped as many as 30 girls and one boy into believing he could exorcise evil spirits by having sex with them, police have learned.
They will seek an arrest warrant for Somporn Phromjit. Parents told police on Friday their children had been raped multiply by Muang-district scavenger Somporn. The father of a 12-year-old girl and the mother of a 13-year-old boy alleged to police the man had raped their children on numerous occasions at a Tambon Bang Muang Mai address. The girl told police she had been raped nearly 30 times. Somporn told her he was a spiritual medium and could see evil in her. To rid her of spirits he had sex with her. A next-door neighbour made similar allegations. The boy told police he had been lured to the man's home with a similar story and raped. The boy said he had talked with other neighbourhood children and was convinced the man had raped as many as 30 girls. The boy feared his parents would punish him so he revealed his story to a senior member of the community, who told the parents. Three of the children have been examined at Samut Prakan Hospital. Prosecutors will interview them. The suspect is no longer at his address and an arrest warrant is being sought, police said.
