Octane 95 retail price to be over Bt30 Saturday

Octane-95 petrol prices will tomorrow surpass the Bt30 per litre level for the first time in 10 months, following the increase in finished oil prices.
Retailers will tomorrow jack up petrol prices by 40 satang per litre, bringing octane-95 petrol price to Bt30.39 per litre and octane-91 price to Bt29.59. Octane-95 price first touched the Bt30 per litre in July last year.Chaiwat Chooritti, senior executive vice president of PTT, said in a statement that driving the latest increase is the new record high of finished petrol price in Singapore to US$90.15 a barrel today. It jumped $2.37 a barrel from the previous day. Meanwhile, finished diesel price also rose $2.16 to $82.38 a barrel. "PTT has maintained the prices for some time to alleviate the burden on the public, which resulted in the lower-than-actual-cost retail prices. At present, marketing margin on petrol oil sales is only 30 satang per litre. (Due to the pressure from higher oil prices), PTT thus needs to increase all petrol products including gasohol," Chaiwat said in a statement. by Bussiness Desk
