Grumble in the House

National Legislative Assembly member Gen Preecha Rojanasen says many assembly members were impatient with the government's lack of accomplishments and some wanted to quit.
These were mainly members acting as coordinators between the assembly and the government. Preecha said NLA members had proposed many measures to the government yet it would not respond. But while dissatisfied and reluctant to help any more, they would not resign, he said. He was also critical of Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont's performance. "One day he says he doesn't want to stay in the post, and then he insists he will stay. I am asking if he is a soldier. The way he talks is political. In the past he didn't play politics. This shows he has begun to be a politician who changes all the time," he said. Preecha said the Thaksin Shinawatra government was much better than the current government. Even though the last regime was corrupt, it put forward new ideas every day. Many NLA members did not want to help this government any more. However, they would not resign from the Assembly. On Monday Preecha announced he would stop acting as a coordinator between the Assembly and the government, saying the proposals he had made to the prime minister had failed to get a positive response.
