Sahapat launches drink

Saha Pathanapibul (Sahapat) has launched its first product under its i-Healti food-supplement brand.

The i-Healti Q10 contains coenzyme Q10, which can be found in all human cells and produces body energy.

Director Pennapha Dhanasarnsilp said this was the first time coenzyme Q10 would be in drink form. Previously, this reputed anti-ageing substance was commonly found in cosmetics and medicine pills.

The product, which took about three years to launch, is the fruit of a joint venture with Japan's Otsuka Pharmaceuticals called Otsuka Saha Asia Research and Development.

Otsuka Pharmaceuticals' other products that contain the coenzyme can be found in its Nature Made vitamins and supplements.

Sahapat, the distributor, has set aside Bt70 million to market the Bt25 supplement drink, mainly through sampling at consumer events. It hopes to sell 10 million bottles this year, each one containing 29 milligrams of coenzyme Q10, while the human body requires 50-100mg a day of the substance, depending on age.

It has also recruited Pakpilai Thavisin - health and beauty specialist, columnist and spa owner - to serve as the presenter for its launch campaign.
